INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The American Legion Child Welfare Foundation, in its 58th year, has awarded $734,220 to 20 non-profit organizations. These grants, determined during the annual meeting of the Board of Directors, held at the Sheraton Hotel City Centre in Indianapolis, Indiana on Sunday, October 14, 2012, have been awarded to support worthwhile projects through the dissemination of information to the general public and specific target groups. 40 UM students awarded 2012-13 Fulbright grants


ANN ARBOR — The University of Michigan says 40 of its students have received Fulbright grants from the State Department for overseas education. The Ann Arbor school announced Monday that more of the grants were awarded to its students than any other U.S. institution for the 2012-13 academic year. Harvard University is second with 31 recipients, and Brown University is third with 29. Michigan says this marks the sixth time in the past eight years it has held that honor. It also led the nation in Fulbrights in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011.

CentraCare grants $525K to improve health in St. Cloud


The CentraCare Health Foundation Board has approved a grant for $525,000 to encourage St. Cloud employers to participate in a workplace wellness program. On Tuesday, CentraCare announced the money would be awarded to the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation over a three year period. The purpose of the grant is to give area employers an opportunity to enroll in the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being 5 index. The program measures various components of an organizations' health and compares it to groups around the globe. It can also be used for individuals and communities. "Our investment in this great community collaborative is about an impactful approach to workplace wellness," said President and CEO of CentraCare Health Ken Holmen in a news release. "It's also about the health of the community as a whole."
