Stage Notes — MacArthur Grants awarded; Joffrey and Luna Negra head to Jacob’s Pillow Dance FestivalIn its effort to boost the global profile of Chicago and its rich artistic landscape, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation has awarded a total of $504,000 in new grants to 12 Chicago arts and culture organizations to help support their collaborations with nine arts groups in other countries. The grants are the first of two rounds of support from the Foundation’s International Connections Fund, which will give a total of $1 million in awards by the end of 2012. |
Funding NewsFederal technology grants coming to capital schoolsFive Sacramento-area school districts and the Sacramento County Office of Education will share $36 million in federal technology grants with 145 other state education agencies. Elk Grove Unified will receive $1 million, San Juan Unified $500,000, Folsom Cordova Unified $170,000, and Washington Unified and Woodland Joint Unified, both in Yolo County, each $50,000. The Sacramento County Office of Education won $10,000. The Enhancing Education Through Technology competitive grants are part of the federal government's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act stimulus program. Read More >Chillicothe gets $400,000 grant for downtown improvementsThe Ohio Department of Development has announced that Chillicothe will receive a portion of more than $1.3 million in grants from the Community Development Block Grant Comprehensive Downtown Revitalization Program. The city is slated to receive a $400,000 Tier-Two grant to help 30 businesses with facade and code improvements.
